Position Summary
The Director of Operations leads operational planning and drives company-wide alignment by translating strategy into scalable processes, systems, and routines. This role provides operational leadership and strategic insight as part of Heath’s Executive Leadership Team, helping guide the company’s direction and performance. 

This role creates alignment across teams, systems, and planning cycles, ensuring day-to-day operations flow smoothly and are connected to long-term goals. You’ll lead our planning, inventory, and data strategy while ensuring that systems, reporting, and cross-functional processes are built to support reliable, scalable, and efficient operations. As a member of Heath’s Executive Leadership Team, you’ll help guide the company’s overall direction while keeping our operational engine strong, smart, and aligned. This role requires someone fluent in the complexities of a vertically integrated business where manufacturing, inventory, planning, retail, and e-commerce all intersect.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead demand planning, supply planning, and inventory management processes to ensure optimal product availability and fulfillment across all sales channels, including retail, e-commerce, and wholesale.
  • Partner on the strategy and evolution of core systems - particularly Shopify and Netsuite - to ensure they support integration, automation, and reporting across planning, inventory, manufacturing, sales, e-commerce, marketing, product development, and finance. Lead ongoing evaluation and optimization of NetSuite workflows and reporting tools in collaboration with IT and business owners.
  • Ensure warehouse operations are aligned with planning, fulfillment, and inventory strategies through close collaboration with warehouse leadership.
  • Contribute to company-wide strategy and decision-making as a member of the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Develop and refine business intelligence tools, reporting frameworks, and performance dashboards to enhance forecasting accuracy, inventory turns, and operational visibility.
  • Serve as the operational partner to merchandising, product development, marketing, sales, e-commerce, and manufacturing, helping translate vision into executable plans.
  • Represent operations in cross-functional planning, leadership meetings, and key initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain a structured operational cadence, including seasonal and monthly planning cycles, S&OP processes, and contingency planning frameworks.
  • Mentor and support teams at the intersection of planning, systems, and analytics, fostering a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Lead change management efforts across operations, ensuring clear communication, aligned planning, and team engagement as new processes, systems, and priorities evolve.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business operations, supply chain, or a related field
  • Experience in both retail and manufacturing environments is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years in operations, planning, or supply chain roles with increasing scope. 
  • 5+ years managing cross-functional teams and systems with the ability to guide and grow teams that support inventory planning, demand planning, and system optimization.
  • Expertise in forecasting methodologies, capacity planning, distribution logistics, inventory control, master scheduling, production planning, fulfillment optimization, and inventory management.
  • Experience with operational process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) strongly preferred.
  • Strong strategic thinking with the ability to toggle between the big picture and fine detail.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication and influence.
  • Experience creating business processes, calendars, and reporting structures.
  • Calm under pressure, collaborative by nature, biased toward action.
Licenses/Certifications
  • CPIM, CSCP, or equivalent supply chain certifications preferred 
Required Technology/Software skills
  • Advanced NetSuite experience
  • Experience with Shopify Pro (POS and e-commerce) 
  • Google Suite fluency
  • Familiarity with business intelligence tools 

Work Environment, Hours, & Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt position, typically Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work for system upgrades, inventory cycles or large all-hand-on deck events. While we embrace a hybrid work model, in-person collaboration is a valued part of our culture. This role has flexibility to work from our San Francisco or Sausalito offices. Up to two remote workdays per week are available. The salary range for this position is $160,000 – $175,000, based on experience.
