Position Summary

Our Sales Specialists are people who enjoy beautiful, useful quality products, and who possess an affinity for great craft and design. Success in this role depends on the ability to listen to customers, and help them turn their tile design ideas into reality with your thorough understanding of Heath products.

Our clientele at Heath ranges from architects and designers to chefs, design savvy shoppers, out-of-towners and gift registrants. Our ideal candidate has an open, friendly demeanor, an appreciation for Heath Ceramics and an eagerness to learn more about the rich history of our company and designs. They will have an eye for detail and will be able to create a store environment that surprises and delights our customers each time they walk through our door.

This retail Sales Specialist position has been established to support the retail (In-Stock) tile and Made-to-Order tile business within our Los Angeles showroom with a focus on tile expertise, establishing expert leadership, and focus on presenting our tile collections features and benefits to walk-in customers, be they homeowners (end-users), contractors, or Design Trade.

This person will also play an important part in showroom sales and operations across all other product categories  as directed by showroom managers. This sales specialist must be responsive, organized and flexible.  This role will also provide coverage for Tile Specialist staff who are on vacation, in the field, or out of the office.  

Sales Responsibilities

_ Creates a positive first impression with showroom customers. Understands the overall customer needs of the entire showroom and balances focus and coverage based on those needs.

_ Exhibits an authentic and friendly approach to initiating conversation

_ Is fully knowledgeable about Heath tile, dinnerware and Heath Home products

_ Implements storytelling to inspire clients to enjoy our products and company vision, Heath’s philosophy and history

_ Develops long-term relationships with clients

_ Possesses agility to deal with diverse customers in a calm and thoughtful manner

_ Accepts and takes initiative to complete store routines, housekeeping and store presentation

_ Helps to ensure strong awareness of ticketing and inventory integrity for all product

_ Understands all transaction types within the POS system and ensures 100% accuracy in all tender types, including cash and charge transactions-demonstrate strong data integrity

_ Maintain overall appearance and organization of the sales floor and employee areas, pricing, shipment processing, restocking and light cleaning

Tile Responsibilities

_ Ensure all inquiries have complete information while providing a thoughtful and enjoyable customer experience

_  Assist customers in store with layout, color and functionality

_ Must be willing and able to develop substantial knowledge about how Heath tile is made, able to tell the Heath story; and appropriate follow through with the Tile Specialists with the company ordering systems

_ Assist tile team with maintaining tile and sample stock levels as needed, including ownership of Inventory Cycle Counts for In-Stock tile and sample tile.

_ Be a go-to for the tile and showroom teams in the area of communicating tile inquiries from clients, factory updates and statuses, training ideas/opportunities/issues

_ Work with tile and management teams to help organize and participate tile trainings for showroom staff
_ Know the spec sheets and catalogs extremely well and be able to communicate and demonstrate their usefulness as a tool to showroom staff (ongoing education)

_ Build a working knowledge of the local Los Angeles tile industry and share information on a regular basis

_ Willingness to learn and teach your customers

_ Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand for long periods


_ Google Docs/Excel

_ iVend Register System (will train)

_ Basic SAP training will be provided

Physical Requirements

_ Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time

_ Ability to lift, reach and grasp 30 lbs of ceramic dinnerware/tile and to push/pull carts and bins of merchandise repeatedly throughout the day

_ Daily showroom activities, including processing of shipments, merchandising product, and order fulfillments

_ Visual acuity to determine the color, accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned

This is a full-time position averaging 40 hrs per week on a Sunday through Thursday schedule.
